OK, as a fan of MMA and the UFC I will be the first to say that sometimes I watch these pay per view events and leave disappointed. It seems like too often, with the big superstars, they fight to not lose instead of fighting to win. With the lower ranking guys, they are still trying to make a name for themselves and often let it all hang out. Do you feel me? Does anyone else feel the same way? Let me just say that the season finale of TUF on Spike recently was AMAZING!!! There were 5 fights (I think) and 3 of them got a "Fight of the Night" bonus from the UFC. And deservedly so. These guys let it all hang out. I enjoyed the first fight a lot although some other people might find it a little boring. There was a lot of Jiu-Jitsu (sp?) going on with one submission attempt flowing into another for almost the whole fight. I loved it. If you know what you are looking at and what the fighters are trying to do it is really fun to watch the technical chess match that goes on in a fight like that. Also, new found respect for Chris Lytle and Clay Guida both those guys are bangers that just like to brawl and can really take a beating. I will happily watch a fight with either of those two anytime.
I must end this post with commentary on what I thought was one of the most exciting rounds of MMA action I have seen in a while. The Diego Sanchez vs. "The Carpenter" ("The Neanderthal") first round was SSWWEEEET! It was an amazing fight in general, but the first round had me out of my seat (that takes a lot, Nate's downstairs couches are comfy). I won't break it down to a play by play, I will let you try to find a repeat of the fight on Spike, they air them all the time, so you can see for yourself. I LOVE FLYING KNEES AND HEADKICKS! STANDING TOE TO TOE AND THROWING HAYMAKERS IS FUN TO WATCH!!!!!!
Holy crap did you see these fights??!!
